Patent 2118409

1. A METHOD OF SUBSTITUTING THE BUSBAR OF ALUMINIUM POTS IN THE OPERATING POTLINE PREFERABLY DURING THE CAPITAL REPAIR OF ALUMINIUM POT, including the pot shutting-down by shunting with inserts and the disassembly of its anode busbar, wherein after the disassembly of anode busbar of the pot, being out-of-operation, the cathode busbar of previous downstream pot is disassembled and substituted by new-one, using temporary bypass busbar conductors, having detachable couplings with cathode busbar of the out-of-operation pot; the collector straps of cathode busbar at the previous downstream pot being alternatively connected to the flexible bands, welded to the temporary bypass busbar conductors; the shunting inserts and existing cathode busbar being disassembled and the new cathode busbar being installed and shunted; after the installation of new anode busbar with new anode risers the anode risers are welded to the new cathode busbar, the collector straps of cathode busbar are alternatively disconnected from the temporary bypass busbar conductors and connected to the flexible bands, welded to the new busbar; the units, connecting the temporary bypass busbar conductors to the cathode busbar of shut-down pot, are disconnected; and the temporary bypass busbar conductors are disassembled.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the alternating connection of cathode collector straps is carried out simultaneously from both sides of the pot.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein to connect collector straps with flexible bands, welded to the temporary bypass busbar conductors the clamping connection is used.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the connection of temporary bypass busbar conductors of the shut-down pot is carried out by flexible shunting bands, using the a clamping connection.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein to connect cathode straps to the flexible bands, welded to new busbar the clamping connection is used, followed by fusion.
